A Womans walk-The Courage to Love
Week of June 12, 2011
“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” -Romans 5:8
There is no greater love than the love of God. And there is nothing more powerful. But do we embrace the power of His love or the love of power?
Whatever or whomever we love influences us greatly and can even have power over us. How often have we seen—and perhaps even participated in—striving and driving to try to get ahead at work or in other areas of our lives? Perhaps we’ve fallen into competition with others and have taken our eyes off of Jesus. Perhaps we’ve grown insensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading. Are we fueled by fear, inadequacy, perfectionism or obsession. Have we stepped on others in pursuit of promotion? Do we believe that God loves us enough to work on our behalf?
If we don’t know and receive God’s love, how can we trust Him or His plans to prosper us? How can we be empowered correctly? How can we ever love others?
It’s really about finding the courage to seek the heart of our Heavenly Father. Have you spent enough time with Him to know what He has especially for you? Spending time with God is never a waste. It is what we were created for. God longs for our fellowship. He longs to bless us with His love and prosperity. He can do more in a minute on our behalf than we can do in a lifetime of striving and driving.
So why do we persist in our quest to get ahead our way?
I believe the answer to this question can be found in the answer to another question, “How much of God’s love resides in us?”
The truth is, the fewer obstacles residing within us means more room for God’s love to prevail. Sometimes, a process of restoration is required. And God is big enough to handle our past wounds, injustices and mistakes if we will just forgive, repent, lay down any bitterness, anger and regret and ask for His help to heal our hearts.
God is big enough to accelerate our spiritual walk and get us up to speed according to His timetable. He knows how to give us revelation knowledge and understanding. And He knows how to bring us the resources and sources we need. What’s required of us is a fully surrendered heart and a simple declaration that we need His help.
Christ died to offer us the freedom of love and the freedom to love. Isn’t it time to break old patterns that have held us back for too long?
If you’re ready for a change, repent and ask God to give you His courage to love, to trust Him and to step out on His path to promotion. Then prepare to be awed
